new year, new hopes, new changes: cheers to 2014

Is it just me or does anyone else feel scared/anxious thinking about their new year's resolutions? Lately everyone's been posting about their new year's resolutions and it really got me thinking- what exactly are my resolutions for 2014?

I just read a very interesting article that provided 25 new year resolutions for 2014 that everyone should actually make (I've provided the link below)... keep in mind that this article is most likely meant for women...

25 New Year's Resolutions Every Person Should Actually Make for 2014

The resolutions mentioned in the article above really got me thinking... and I agreed with most of these resolutions- except that most of these resolutions made me anxious/scared... I'm scared to actually commit to these resolutions because it forces change in my life. I hate change, especially when change is so unpredictable.

Its crazy how much can change in one year. Reflecting back on 2013, I'd say it wasn't my best year...
my mom was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, I chased someone who didn't want the same things I wanted, and felt stuck with what I wanted to do with my life.

On a brighter note, many positive things came out of 2013 as well such as starting this blog and my youtube channel, going to Puerto Rico with my best friends, completed a year at my current job, started taking classes again, and went to my first EDM concert/festival.

This year I want to make changes to better myself; here are my New Year's Resolutions for 2014:

1. post two blog posts per week
2. post one youtube video per week
3. get at least an A- in my spring semester class
4. be open to new relationships
5. let go of old, unhealthy relationships
6. workout at least 3 times a week
7. Travel to a new country
8. live in the moment, forget about consequences
9. save enough money to move out
10. find someone that likes me as much as I like them

I want 2014 to be a year where I won't look back and regret things that I did and did not do. This will be the year where I take control of my happiness and make the things I want happen. I had a good run with 2013 but I am ready for this new year.

I wrote the beginning of this post a couple of days ago; I was feeling defeated by the idea of new changes and new hopes in the upcoming year. Now that today is New Years Eve, I feel a sense of relief and readiness that I didn't feel before. I just need to tell myself to not look back and do the things that I want to do this year.

Goodbye 2013

Happy New Years everyone and have a safe and happy holiday

xx

  1. I stopped thinking about these as resolutions because so many people do resolution's and then a couple of months pass and nothing. To me they are lifestyle changes, changes in viewpoints and overall desires. Now they don't freak me out at much.

    Happy New Year!

    1. I completely agree with you- if you crave the desired changes enough, then they shouldn't seem so daunting!

  2. Yes, I definitely felt anxious and scared more than anything the week before 2014 arrived. I kept worrying because 2013 didn't turn out so great for me, but then I realized life goes on and just because 2013 wasn't a good year doesn't mean 2014 will turn out badly as well. Good luck on your new years resolutions and happy new year! :)
