My Holy Grail Skin Care Products FOR OILY/ACNE PRONE SKIN

I was about 11 or 12 when I started puberty and my skin completely changed- it went from normal to oily and acne prone. My life was miserable for the next 8 years because I was plagued by extremely oily skin along with large cystic acne. Till this day I still have extremely oily skin (I heard it's supposed to keep your skin looking younger.. no complaints about that!) and I still deal with the occasional breakout, especially during that time of the month (sorry TMI!). With my long struggle in finding solutions to help heal my acne, acne scars, as well as control my greasy face, I've tried probably every product out there that would help clear my acne and keep my oily face in check. Granted that as I got older, my acne slowly started to clear up- but I still need good skincare products to keep my pimples and oily skin at bay!

I am going to review my holy grail skincare products that have really helped to heal and moisturize my skin as well as battle and prevent new pimples from popping up. This list of skincare products are products that I've tried over the years as well as been using for a while now- before I begin, I just need to say that I am allergic to benzoyl peroxide (an ingredient that is used in some acne product), therefore I only stick to products with salicylic acid (sometimes I think salicylic acid isn't as strong as benzoyl peroxide when it comes to fighting acne... I'm probably wrong). My skin also really hates any products with mineral oil... my skin literally FREAKS out if I use any products containing mineral oil. Other than that, please enjoy this lengthy review!!

Moisturizers:

Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisture for sensitive skin

This was the first real facial moisturizer that I used when I discovered that I had oily/acne prone skin. Its very affordable and very effective in controlling oil as well as keeping your skin moisturized! It also helped to prevent any breakouts.

Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel

This was my first "high-end" moisturizer that I purchased when I got my first job at 17. Till this day I still love this moisturizer and it is always my "go-to" moisturizer when my skin starts breaking out like crazy. It is so light-weight, and definitely keeps my oily skin in control! It is also very good at preventing any pesky pimples from showing up!

Boscia Revitalizing Black Hydration Gel

This is a new moisturizer for me; I purchased this about 4 months ago and have been using it ever since! I was getting tired of my Clinique moisturizer (no offense! I just wanted to try something new!) so I decided to pick this little guy up. It feels so refreshing and cooling when you put this on your face. It is also amazing at controlling my oily skin and this moisturizer has not broken me out at all!

Caudalíe Vinosource Moisturizing Matifying Fluid

This is also a new product that I recently picked up- I only picked this up because the Sephora I went to ran out of the Boscia moisturizer (bummer... I will re-purchase my Boscia moisturizer once I run out of this one!). The lady at Sephora convinced me into purchasing this product... and she was right! I am in love because it keeps my face matte all day and really does control my oily skin! Plus it does not break me out.

Caudalíe Vinoperfect Cell Renewal Night Cream

I picked this up about 4 months ago because I needed a really good night cream to help lighten and brighten my face from all my old acne scars. After the first night, I noticed that my skin was instantly brighter and after a week, a few of my old acne scars were actually fading! this stuff works wonders, highly recommend it!

Cleansers:

Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash

This was the first acne face wash I used- I was about 12 years old when my mom bought this for me. It has a mild scent, very gentle, and does not leave your face feeling oily/greasy. This face wash was a good and affordable preventative method in fighting acne.

Proactive Skin Smoothing Exfoliator

I decided to try some of the skin care products from proactive and found that this was the one that worked best with my skin! As you know I am allergic to benzoyl peroxide so the proactive face cream left me with itchy red rashes all over my face. Luckily this cleanser/exfoliator did not! I think its because I am washing the benzoyl peroxide off my face so the chemical isn't lingering on my skin for a long period of time like the face lotion did. Proactive really helped to clear up my acne, especially my big cystic acne. I really enjoyed this and went through several bottles of this face wash.

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser/Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser

This is the product that I am using currently as my day and night face wash. It is so gentle on my skin, its oil-free, and leaves my face feeling so clean. It also helps to prevent any breakouts from appearing. I usually purchase either the gentle skin cleanser or the daily facial cleanser, depending on which is available at my local CVS or Walgreens. I definitely recommend this cleanser because it contains minimal ingredients and it is an all around great cleanser for any skin type!

Boscia Makeup-Breakup Cool Cleansing Oil

At first I was scared to try cleansing oils- my first thought was if I already have acne prone/oily skin, why would putting oil on my face make it any better? I read amazing reviews about this product on Sephora and I was looking for a new cleanser that would take all of my makeup off, even my stubborn waterproof mascara. I ended picking this up and once I tried it, I fell in love. You have a dry face and just put two pumps of the oil onto your hands and start gently massaging your face. It glides on so smoothly and instantly removes any dirt and makeup that is on your skin. After I just rinse my face off and my face feels so clean and not oily at all! I highly recommend this product for those who are seeking an efficient makeup remover.

Toners:

Mario Badescu Cucumber Cleansing Lotion

This was the first toner I ever purchased to help heal my broken out/sensitive/oily skin. It is a very refreshing toner that does not sting your face. It really helps to get rid of any impurities and dirt that my face wash did not wash away. This toner is very affordable and is definitely a must try! Every time my skins starts breaking out, I always go back to this toner.

Clarins Toning Lotion with Iris

This toner is a great toner because it is very soothing on my skin- the scent is also amazing! It really helps to control the oil and shine on my face throughout the day. I highly recommend this toner to those who have oily/combination skin.

Shiseido Eudermine Revitalizing Essence

I am currently using this toner because a lady from the MAC counter recommended this to me- she said that this toner completely opens up your pores to help suck in the expensive moisturizer you put on your face. This toner really helps to take full advantage of the benefits of your moisturizer. I love this toner and it is definitely worth the hefty price tag! I've purchased the largest size twice now!

Spot Treatments/Face Masks:

Neutrogena Rapid Clear Acne Eliminating Spot Gel

If you are looking for a really effective drugstore spot treatment, then I highly recommend purchasing this. It is very good at targeting regular pimples (not quite cystic pimples) and helps to reduce redness and size over night.

Mario Badescu Drying Lotion

I love using this stuff on a pimple that has a white head. It is so effective in shrinking that little sucker! All you need to do is use a q-tip and dip the q-tip into the pink stuff at the bottom of the jar and just dot it right onto the pesky spots you want to get rid of! FYI DO NOT SHAKE THE BOTTLE! ALL THAT PINK STUFF IS MEANT TO BE SETTLED AT THE BOTTOM!!!!! If by chance you accidentally shake it, its okay, just wait to let the pink stuff settle back to the bottom...

Mario Badescu Buffering Lotion

This is magic in a bottle- literally a miracle worker in fighting against large cystic acne! Whenever I'm about to get a large cystic pimple, I can usually feel it deep under my skin before it actually emerges to the surface (ouch!). Once I feel it coming in, I quickly put some of this buffering lotion right on it before bed. The next morning the cystic pimple has either decreased in size or doesn't ever emerge to the surface (phew!).

Origins Super Spot Remover

This is more of a "high-end" spot treatment gel. I really like this stuff because it is super effective in minimizing the size of a regular pimple as well as reducing the redness. You just need a tiny bit and you are good to go!

Queen Helene Mint Julep Mask

When I feel a deep breakout about to come out, I instantly grab for this face mask. This face mask instantly sucks all the impurities out of your skin and the minty/tingly feeling leaves your skin so smooth and clean.

Tools:

Clarisonic Mia

This tool has changed my skin forever! Before using the Clarisonic, my skin was constantly having mini breakouts. I finally bit the bullet and purchased it; I do not regret this purchase whatsoever. I use it every night during my shower to really clean all the makeup off my face. It really helps to get rid of all the dead skin cells, dirt, and leftover makeup that could be clogging your pores to cause more breakouts. If you haven't tried the Clarisonic, I HIGHLY recommend this product to anyone, especially those who suffer from oily/acne prone skin like I do. IT IS WORTH THE INVESTMENT.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post; it took me a while to gather a really good list of skincare products that I truly believe works in battling oily/acne prone skin. Good skincare is an investment because you receive a lifetime of clear, healthy skin.

Please let me know if there are other amazing skincare products I should try! I am always up for trying out new products.

xx
